Valentine’s Gift Guide - ART FIX

Valentine's Gift Guide

With Christmas barely out of sight and Valentine’s Day right around the corner, it’s not a crime to be completely out of gift ideas. To put your mind at ease, Art Fix has put together a list of unique, arty, and romantic Valentine’s Day gifts to impress your special someone. From books and candles to hoodies and jewelry, the Art Fix Valentine’s Day Gift Guide is here to help you spread the love this February.

Julia Blackshaw, Need You, 2021

If there’s one thing we’ve missed in the past year, it’s the physical act of hugging. That’s why “Need You” may be the perfect present for the special person you haven’t hugged enough recently. Julia Blackshaw aims to capture moments of calm in her paintings depicting figures that seem lost in their own world. “Need You” is a unique piece that will send a heartfelt message to your loved one.

Flore Zoé, Love is the Reason

At Art Fix, we believe the story behind an artwork is what really brings it to life. Let us tell you a little about the tale behind this captivating shot by fine art photographer Flore Zoé. A Colombian folk tale holds that a bite by the poisonous Fulgoria Laternia is lethal. The only thing that can save the bitten is a sexual act. Zoé’s photograph shows Adam & Eve. Eve has just been bitten, meaning Adam must save her with his love. This begs the question: is love the reason for humanity’s existence? If this tale is one you want to share with your Valentine, this limited edition work by Zoé – who is displayed at Opera Gallery all over the world – could be yours this February.

Maria Roosen, Back to Base, 2016

We all know that the best gift is that of art, so why not impress your sweetheart with a unique and cheeky work by Dutch artist Maria Roosen?

Lisa Konno, Print #4, 2020

As always, Art Fix loves blurring the lines between art and fashion. Our Valentine’s Day guide is no exception: check out designer and artist, Lisa Konno, who makes collections out of textile waste. This piece is beautifully printed on silk, signed, numbered and framed.

Keith Haring, Skateboard

Struggling to find the perfect present for your hubby? Then we’ve got an idea for you: this Keith Haring Skateboard is made in collaboration with The Skateroom, and it can be mounted on the wall as art or used as a functional skateboard.

This remarkable French artist currently has an exhibition in the Petit Palais Musée in Paris. This photograph (edition of 30) is part of a series called “Healing Plants for Hurt Landscapes”. Medical plants from a pharmaceutical garden are placed on an image of a destroyed landscape, aiming to bring a dash of positivity amidst the pandemic. A unique gift with a symbolic meaning for someone who needs a little cheering up this V-Day.

Gray Malin: Beach Backgammon Set

Let’s face it, if there’s one thing this year has taught us it’s that game nights are the best way to avoid lockdown boredom. This backgammon set features Gray Malin’s iconic aerial photography of colorful beach umbrellas. A classic gift with a contemporary twist.

BMW: Art Cars

Remember the BMW Art Cars we showed you in our eighth episode? In this very special collection, the German car manufacturer connects the automotive design with famous artists.
