sold outTitled after a collection of poems by Charles Baudelaire, “Les Fleurs du Mal 4250” has a two sided nature to it. It is part of a series of works in which Geers uses objects, materials, images, signs and symbols from his experience in the anti-apartheid movement, focusing on healing. In this piece, a neutral base charged with words of political protest is placed in contrast to bright blue flowers, acknowledging our societal fragility while highlighting the importance of nature in the process of healing.
This series of works is a reflection of the current global issues our society faces today, including the pandemic, social distancing, Black Lives Matter protests and climate change, underlining art as the key to healing.
Part of the proceeds of this limited edition will go to the Young Blood Foundation. This platform invites artists at the early stages of their career into an environment that will nurture and develop their talent.
