This giant virtual wave, higher than a house, has been programmed into the world’s biggest outdoor high-definition screen. This overwhelming installation is created by the design company d’strict on the world’s largest Samsung LED screen, which is said to have an area four times the size of a basketball court. Described as an anamorphic illusion*, the wave gives viewers a three-dimensional effect of raging blue waters, which appear to swell and break constantly above people walking by beneath. The installation can be found in the Gangnam District on the ‘Times Square of Seoul’, called K-Pop square.
*Anamorphic illusions are distorted projections that need the viewer to be watching the animation from a particular angle to get the depth effect.
