Philip Vermeulen loves to make you question reality—especially when it comes to sound waves and flying tennis balls!
Known for his daring, immersive installations, Philip creates machines that blend technology, sound, and visual art in the most unexpected ways. Imagine walking into a room where you’re greeted by a whirlwind of light and sound, or an orchestra of rubber bands firing projectiles—it’s all Philip’s handiwork!
Vermeulen, based in The Hague, studied at the Royal Academy of Art, where he began fusing art and tech in ways that challenge our senses and perceptions. His installations are a rollercoaster for the mind, each one built with a mad scientist’s creativity and precision.
Whether he’s warping your sense of space with massive sound waves or orchestrating rhythmic chaos, Philip turns the surreal into an experience you won’t forget.
In 2024, Philip celebrated the opening of his first solo exhibition at the Rijksmuseum Twenthe, titled ‘Chasing the Dot’, featuring two site-specific installations developed specially for the exhibition. Each crafted to keep viewers guessing, chasing, and marveling at his latest mind-bending creations!
