American artist Kate Pincus-Whitney is known for blending three basic human needs – food, security, and love – in her work. By painting the theater of the dinner table in colorful and dense canvases, she navigates the meaning of food in art and cultural history.

"I was raised by my mother and grandmother in the kitchen and food for us was everything; it was identity, history, love, and ritual"

She draws inspiration from her kitchen, a physical and emotional space that has played an important role in her upbringing. Diagnosed with dyslexia and stereo-blindness at a young age, art became her preferred medium of expression, “I always felt more comfortable and fluent interacting and understanding the world through the visual language instead of the written word,” explains the artist.
Pincus-Whitney holds an MFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design, and was named a Forbes 30 under 30 young visionaire in 2022. She lives and works in Los Angeles.
